Dr. Megan Boyd was cultivating experience in dentistry from birth- her father is a general dentist in Peoria, IL. As a child, she spent countless hours at the office and started working there as an assistant during high school. Her father’s love of his profession and his passion for helping others inspired her to become a dentist herself.
Dr. Megan received her bachelors from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She then attended Southern Illinois University, earning her DMD. Following graduation, she spent several years working as a general dentist, including 2 years at a public health clinic in Champaign. During this time she was also actively involved with a not-for-profit group providing preventative and restorative care to rural schools and Head Start programs. It was during this time, she realized caring for children was her passion and where she could make her biggest impact. Following this decision, she completed a pediatric dental residency at the University of Nebraska Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, where she received the distinction of being named chief resident.
She is currently an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago District Dental Society. She has also recently joined the medical and dental staff at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Megan thinks every child has the ability to be a great dental patient and it is important to provide care while building trust, alleviating fear, and promoting a positive attitude towards a child’s dental visit.
In her free time, she enjoys running and has completed several marathons. She also enjoys baking and making homemade ice cream – sweet corn with raspberries is her favorite!
