An Eastern philosopher once said: "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Dr. Tehemina fell in love with pediatric dentistry as a volunteer on a van, in New York City, during her first year of dental school-- long before she was allowed in the pediatrics clinic. Caring for kids who had a need to fulfill, changing lives and making them better, educating and empowering adults and children; even as just a volunteer it was obvious that this was the place to make a difference. For her, dentistry presents the opportunity to be doctor, teacher, scientist, student, artist, and friend simultaneously, and she is honored on a daily basis to be able to do what she does.
Dr. Tehemina received her BA from Northwestern University with a double major in Neurobiology and English literature. She completed both her DDS degree and her Pediatric Residency at New York University, where she received multiple academic and community related honors including induction into the dental honors society Omicron Kappa Upsilon and the NYU President's Award. Since graduating, she has been in private practice with Pine Dental Care, and in 2007 completed the board certification process associated with the American Board of Pediatric dentistry which makes her a Diplomate of the American Board. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Society, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the American Dental Association.
When Dr. Tehemina goes home, she actually looks forward to chasing her son around the house, which continues to delight and surprise her. She also sings in an acapella group, and spends an inordinate amount of time thinking about what and where she can eat and what she can cook for her family and friends.
